Being pedantic, but PNRs are 7 characters on easyJet.

I’m guessing 1.5 billion combinations (34^6 excluding I & O) wasn’t enough for them.

This will be very useful for new subscribers, I wish it had been here when I first joined. Instead, what I got was Shoestring calling me ‘tragically anal’ after my first post asking whether there was a beginners guide rather than having to scroll through all the previous ‘bits’ just in case something was there. I thought I’d joined a welcoming group of like minded people sharing knowledge.

I disagree re 1 (lawyer here). MCOL is an online service offered by HMCTS to allow you to *start* your claim online, rather than using paper forms. It is not just for ‘small claims’ but any claim up to £100,000. The dispute is not resolved online. The started claim (if defended) is still passed to a local county court for a hearing.

Surely, for practical purposes of establishing legroom, “seat pitch” is the distance between the face of the seat and the back of the seat in front?

Great, thanks, although I’d re-examine the alphabetical order.

For example, I would have put U2 in front of UA and TP and TP Run after TIX, but perhaps that’s why I don’t get invited to many parties.

Booking classes are airline specific but that doesn’t mean there is no commonality, so you will find other airlines using JCDRI for Club but for example, I think United uses JCDZP when BA uses Z for First Rewards and P is more commonly used for first. Things like surcharges/airport charges have common IATA codes and the ‘structure’ of bookings and service codes (eg wheelchair needed, infant, to complete a party etc. ) are standardised across airlines because SITA communications require this. Fares are only standardised to a limited degree to enable multi airline bookings.

OK, I suppose it could mean that, whatever that means!
[I know that this is a "Frequent Flyer" glossary, but there are plenty of hotel acronyms and jargon in glossary too.]
So:-
In my world, CIV stands for Convention Internationale pour le transport des Voyageurs which regulates whether a rail traveller who is delayed on a train journey has an automatic right to use the next available connecting train in spite of the ticket saying something like “Booked Train Only”.

Particularly relevant for readers who are travelling to London to connect with a Eurostar train at St Pancras. The vast majority of rail tickets issued in the UK are not CIV tickets, but Eurostar tickets are. If you have a typical British return ticket to London and are delayed and miss your Eurostar connection as a result, you are reliant on Eurostar’s goodwill to get you on a later train [I believe that Eurostar's goodwill is pretty reliable, fortunately].
However, if you have a ticket to “London International (CIV)”, then you have a legal right to travel on the next available train.
It is also worth noting that such tickets are far more flexible (valid during peak travel times and by any valid route, while the return is valid any time during the two months following the date of outward travel) and can be much cheaper than standard tickets.
To buy these tickets you need to prove that you have a Eurostar ticket to connect to, which means that they are not normally available online. I buy mine at my local staffed rail station.

This also applies everywhere within Europe. I read a comment recently here (or in the forum) about someone who was delayed on their journey to Paris and missed their connection to London as a result. They had booked very cheap French Ouigo tickets to Paris, which are not CIV. But most SNCF tickets for standard SNCF train are CIV and do entitle you to travel on the next available train.

Personally, I don’t care how much space the PAX behind me has. Might this not read better if it referred to the seat in front?
Whilst this may be countered by the argument that a bulkhead seat has no seat in front of it, seats in the last row have none behind them

I think this will be a great resource for those just getting into the miles and points game. I first found HeadforPoints (HfP) when trying to find out what a tier point was. Tried reading the BA website explanation and it made no sense to me.
