I’ve heard of restaurants offering to do this, unprompted. I suspect it’s this kind of behaviour that is making Amex (and others in the US) unhappy with the cost.

Plus, apparently, airport staff using it for all their meals 😀

Wouldn’t mind picking up a nice sandwich and drink instead of the poor onboard offerings.

I’ll give you £50 off my hugely inflated prices if you’re that way inclined?

If Matty comes out of there having had one main and two drinks with a bill even after the credit of £23 as suggested, I would politely suggest it’s a pretty bad deal as ‘lounges’ go, since this is a pseudo-lounge.

plus he has to leave after eating so doesn’t actually get to lounge at any point!

It’s fine. You just tell them it’s you only on the card and no guests and you get the £15 off. I’ve travelled with others and have never been forced to add guests if I didn’t want to.

On the other hand if you have a Priority Pass with free guests (do they exist outside of Amex who’s not participating in this?) and travelling alone you could try getting them to add a guest so you get £30 off. Should that work don’t name the place though otherwise it may not last long.

These offers are also available with LoungeKey as it’s run by the same company.

What the rules say and what the system allows may be different!

Yes but you are getting £15 off per person so not a bad deal?

If it’s a World Elite card is it reasonable to assume the minimum income is about £75k?

Around £9 a pint too. Their bacon roll was £8, plus the service charge…
