Thanks – sadly I burned my AA miles at the end of last year on a MEL-SYD-BNE-APW, NAN-SYD-MEL circular trip (APW-NAN booked with Qantas points)!

Annoying but no biggie, between QF and VA seats between MEL/SYD are pretty easy to come by, so I’ll cross that bridge another day. Good idea for anyone with AA miles to hand though (although must admit I had no idea they were still this valuable, despite my first redemption using them being LHR-AKL in F for 80,000 – phenomenal value before it was devalued).

Food and service impeccable, of course.

If you’re not using a 241 then I’d be relatively comfortable given you’ve got BA, JAL and, as fall backs, Qatar and Cathay as options.

Looking at SeatSpy today, I can see decent availability every day up to and including 14 February, as well as some Tuesdays and Wednesdays later in February.

I’m looking to travel at the end of April, and happy to gamble somewhat on the availability being there when I need it. Will suck up the price of a cash ticket if all goes wrong, but would like to know how optimistic I can be.

Appreciate this is a crystal ball question, but grateful to hear of others’ past experiences.

Hope your all well.

Currently tracking A350 JAL F availability on the JFK-HND route.

Hoping to bag myself a May availability trip

I’m looking at flights in Jan ’25 and its showing as a 787 with no F

If not you can buy them for about 2p each, or I guess you can convert Amex points indirectly ?

I’ve flown JAL’s current first suite LHR-HND a few months ago. It’s ok, but (i) it’s on a 777 which is a tiring plane to fly long haul (ii) it’s quite old – monitor isn’t very high def, various other niggles. Service was great, some of the food was amazing, some was meh (iii) JAL have a reputation for keeping cabins a bit warm, though our flight was just about ok.
