Thank you for everyone’s considerations and sorry for my delayed reply.

I have looked at the Caribbean as an option, and have been to Barbados myself before, however I was not overly enamoured by it. It was definitely nice, but the beaches lacked the “paradise” feel I thought they would have, and seemed very narrow compared to what I hoped for.

It is promising to see many positive things said about Mauritius, and Seychelles and I appreciate the specific area recommendations for each. Seychelles seems like a good option to consider with the BA direct flight and the QR stopover option for a Q suite.

I have also just hit the spend for a companion voucher as well so I imagine it would be better to use that rather than the Barclays upgrade voucher.

Time to start checking out hotels in Seychelles and Mauritius…

There’s no BA flight to SEZ any more, you’d need to book QR. It puts me off that the SEZ departure is around 3 am, though if you were doing it all in one go it probably makes more sense!

BGI-SLU is 45 minutes. No decent chain hotels in St Lucia, but if you want honeymoon glam, St Lucia has that. Jade Mountain is eye-wateringly expensive, but unlike anywhere I’ve ever stayed before.

Yes, my mistake. I had looked at that many different options I got confused; it’s Male with the direct BA option. The concern with Male is the potential for high costs for island transfers, which appear to be extortionate.

The 3am departure hasn’t bothered me, as you say it’s all in one go so I can’t imagine I’d have much consideration for what time it was anyway. I would be more concerned about hoping our luggage made the transfer okay.
